Shanghai Zhenzhong contributed to the completion and opening of the world's largest span cable-stayed bridge

Part 01 World-class engineering background and engineering challenges

Recently, the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, which was participated in by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., was officially opened to traffic. This cross-river passage faced significant challenges in design and construction: the main bridge spans 10.03 kilometers across the river, and the main channel adopts a large-span cable-stayed bridge design, accommodating both highway and railway traffic, providing important support for the transportation development in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Part 02 Technical Advantages of EP Series Vibratory Hammers

The water depth and complex geological conditions of the bridge section spanning the river, coupled with frequent wind and waves on the river surface, pose significant challenges to the construction of the pile foundation. Key processes such as pile sinking and pile driving require high-precision and low-failure-rate equipment to ensure construction safety and efficiency.

The Shanghai Zhenzhong EP series resonance-free variable frequency and torque electric drive vibratory hammer, applied in this project, has demonstrated its core technological advantages. This series of equipment features resonance-free functionality, which can prevent resonance damage during start-up and shutdown processes. The variable frequency and torque control function allows for real-time adjustment of eccentric torque during construction, adapting to different soil layers and enhancing construction efficiency. The "zero torque variable frequency start-up" feature reduces power load, enabling long-term continuous operation and enhancing construction flexibility. The horizontal low center of gravity structure and vibration reduction system improve the stability of the equipment under wind and wave conditions on the river surface.

During the construction period, our after-sales service personnel closely cooperated with the construction unit to follow up on the pile foundation construction project. Taking into account the on-site geological, water depth, and wind and wave conditions, adjustments were made to the equipment, and precise operation specifications were formulated to ensure that each pile sinking and extraction met the design requirements.

Through the application of the EP series vibratory pile hammer, the pile foundation sinking and pulling operations were successfully completed, achieving the expected construction accuracy and efficiency. This provided a reliable guarantee for the rapid formation of the bridge foundation, while ensuring construction safety and high equipment availability.

Part 03: Assisting in the construction of a demonstration base for the modern bridge industry

The opening of the Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge has not only improved regional transportation but also showcased the advancements in domestic bridge construction technology and equipment manufacturing. The bridge connects Changzhou and Taizhou, and after its opening, the travel time between the two cities has been shortened from the current 1 hour and 20 minutes to just over 20 minutes. This further promotes the coordinated development of the river-crossing urban agglomeration and is of great significance for serving the construction of the "Yangtze River Economic Belt" and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

In the future, with the in-depth promotion of the "New Infrastructure" and "Transportation Powerhouse" strategies, the EP series of resonance-free variable frequency and torque electric vibrating hammers will continue to undergo iterative upgrades. Leveraging smarter, greener, and more efficient technological capabilities, they will empower more super projects and help China's bridge construction industry reach new heights!
